Testing your location only stocktake
Overview
Before you start working on your location only stocktake, follow the procedure below on your test system. Make sure you understand why the stock movements are happening for your test product/s.
Procedure
Log onto Readysell using your test login
From "Inventory" then "stocktakes" from the navigation panel
Click on the "Start Stocktaking" button, make sure the stocktake mode is the mode you want to test running then click ok. There will be a delay while the system prepares your products for stocktake.
Make sure you elect to start stocktaking in "Location Only (Windows)" mode!!!
You will have to wait for a little while while stocktaking is setup for stocktake location only mode
Select "Inventory" then "Products" from the navigation panel. Then find a product with no stock on hand
Right click on the product, then select "New", then "stock quantity adjustment"
Enter stock into two location on the stock quantity adjustment. Then finalise the stock quantity adjustment. The product should now show as having stock in two locations
Add "stocktake mode" to your stocktake list view, so you can see the mode of stocktakes. This is critical, use column chooser to drag "stocktake mode" to your stocktake list view. Notice how I can see the stocktake mode in the list view. This allows you to check you computer and manual stocktake to see they are running in location update mode. If they are not in location mode this test procedure will fail.
Click on "New" on stocktakes and create a new stocktake. Then enter the product you are using for your test, but only for one location. Do not take any notice of the clear stock mode. Stock will not be cleared.
The point is to be able to see that the stocktake in location mode only changed the location and did not change stock on hand.
Enter a quantity into your stocktake just as a check. The system will ignore the quantity you type in and move all the stock on hand for the product to the new location
Note it moves ALL stock to the location. You can't use this approach if the product has stock in two locations
The stocktake will know it's mode from a setting that is saved on the site. You can drag stocktake mode onto your screen or list view. That way you can tell what mode the stocktake will post in. Stocktakes on windows, web and mobile app should all be created in the same mode and so should work in the same way.
Then go back to the product and check the stock on hand for the product and the product movements. Make sure you look at:
- The stock on hand for your site
- The stock on hand for each location
- The product movements from the stocktake
Notice how in the example below, I entered my stocktake line for the product in location 01 and changed it to location 5. All the stock in location 1 and 2 was cleared. All the stock for the product was moved to location "0500";
If the stock was really in two locations. The stocktake would show all the stock as being in one location. This would effect picking. As even though the total stock is right. If you only physically moved the stock from location 1 to location 0500. Then the stock that is still in location 2 would not be found by picking. The total stock on the computer would be right, but the physical location of the stock in the warehouse might be different!
Testing this procedure with the mobile unit
Once you have completed the test above, repeat the test with the mobile unit. The stocktake from the mobile unit should "know" it is a location only stocktake, as stocktakes are in location mode, and should process just like the stocktake from the normal Readysell screen.
