How to check stocktakes are clearing existing stock as expected

Overview

If you have clicked the start stocktaking button and successfully started stocktaking. Then all product locations are flagged as not counted. The first count for a location should clear the stock in the location and add back your stocktake quantity. Then second stocktake for a product locations should add to the stock already in the location. The most common problem is that stocktaking was not started before you clicked the new stocktake button.

Procedure

If you click on start stocktaking before you start the stocktake. Then the process sets a counted tick on every location to unticked. Then when you post each stocktake. If the counted ticket is off, the system clears the stock in that location and in all other locations. If the tick in the location is checked, then the stock adds on.

You can test to see if the system is working as expected by counting any product you have not counted before where the product has stock on hand. Go to the site tab then the location tab. Then drag the counted checkbox onto the screen. If the counted checkbox is not ticked. Then when you post the stocktake the stock on hand should clear and the new stock should be put on the product. After you post the stocktake. Check the movements tab on the stocktake line. It shows you what the stocktake line did to stock. Then also check the movements on the product to see that change in context.
Please complete the above test. This will tell you:
* If you have started stocktaking by running the required process before clicking new to create any stocktakes. This is critical
* If the system is behaving as expected.
