Using product alternate id as keywords
Overview
When products that don't have the same name need to be found on a search. Such as for example when the name of a product is being changed because a generic product like paper is now being source from a different supplier. Then alternate product id's on products can be used like "key words" to allow you to find the product using works from it's old name.
Procedure
Select "Inventory" then "Products" from the Navigation panel
Find each of the products you are going to be searching for. Click on "New" on the alternate product id list and add a new alternate product id. Set the productid type to "previous code", just so you know this is not a suppliers code or a bar code. At a later point Readysell can add a new alternate id type of "keyword". Then enter the words you want to search for in the alternate id. Repeat this for each of the products you want to search for. In this example I want to search for "EXC COPY" or any part of "EXCELLENT COPY". I also want to search on "MY COPY".
Now try searching on either "EXC COPY","MY COPY" or "EXCELLENT". Readysell's seach will find all he products you have setup if you use the full text search on products or if you enter any part of your new "key words" into the product field on any transaction.
Try the same thing out when entering a sale order. You will find it works just the same as on the full text search in products.
