Understanding blank locations on sale shipments
Readysell can't always fill in the location on a sale shipment. There are two conditions when a sale shipment will have a blank location:
- There is not enough stock on file to supply the picking slip at the time the pick button is pressed. The button is pressed by the system when automatic warehousing makes the shipment. But you can press the button again to fix the problem if the timing of stock coming into the site causes an issue
- The product location is set to supply type "ignore". This is used by customers with retail areas to cause the stock to go to picking slips but not allocate a location if the stock is in a retail location. So they know to cancel the line or go and get the stock from retail.
Automatic warehousing will not release a sale shipment for a order if any of the lines would have a blank location. Automatic warehousing logs the problem when the related task runs. It then tries every time it runs to release the shipment and waits until none of the lines have a blank location. It then creates the sales shipment.
If you run into this issue occasionally, please try the following quick actions:
- If you press the pick button on the sale shipment with no location, the system will allocate a location to the lines where there is sufficient stock to supply the quantity being shipped. You can press pick more than once on a sale shipment.
- If the above fails, check the product locations and location for the product to check supply type is allocated not ignore.
