Overview

The Alternate IDs is located on the the overflow menu accessible via the Breadcrumbs button on the mobile app.

  • Each product can have an unlimited number of alternate product-ids. Each consists of : 
    • Suppliers codes, 
    • Inner (product) barcodes, 
    • Outer (box) barcodes. 
  • Each alternate product-id can be of a different unit. For example an alternate product-id that is a product barcode can be one unit of the product. An outer barcode might be a whole box worth. 
  • This is particularly useful for receipting and sales having an outer barcode with a different quantity to the inner barcode. Which allows receipting or selling of product either by the whole box or individual item of the whole box with a single barcode scan.

Note
    1. If the scanned code matches an alternate product ID of type “Inner Barcode”, “Outer Barcode” or “Alternate Product ID”, use the product unit on that alternate ID
    2. If the scanned code matches the product ID or any other alternate code, use:

      1. Stocktake
      2. Stock Location Transfer
      3. Stock Replenishment Run
      4. Purchase Receipt

    2. Default Order Unit
      1. Purchase Order
    3. Default Sell Unit
      1. Sale Order

IDThe alternate ID for the product.
 

Type

The type (usage purpose) of the alternate id which can be:

  •   Alternate Product ID: just a different productID.
  •   Inner Barcode: for example, if this is a box of five bags, the barcode on each bag may be defined here.
  •   Outer Barcode: if there’s a wrapper that also contains a barcode.
  •   Previous Product ID: if the product was previously known by a different ID. This provides continuity.
  •   Supplier’s Code: the code used by the supplier for the product

Product Unit

Specifies which unit the alternate id applies to, if this is different from the main product unit. For example, an inner barcode might apply to each unit, while an outer barcode might apply to a box of five. To see more on units click here.
