Orders that don't have to be supplied and delivered straight away
Overview
Where a customer or set of customers wish to order from you in advance and not have the goods delivered straight away, the following process allows you to have the sale go into your system, not allocate the stock until a certain date and not have the goods delivered until a certain date.
An example of this is something like Back To School orders where the schools place orders with you, you want those orders to stay in your sales orders module, not listed as quotes but be able to allocate and supply after certain dates.
Procedure
Either create the order from scratch yourself as an ordinary sales order or allow the order to flow through from the web as it usually would.
Set the Allocate On field at the top of the order to be the date you wish to start allocating the stock to this order from.
Set the Ship On field at the top of the order to be the date you wish to start shipping goods to the customer on.
- Save the changes to the order
The stock will not start allocating to the order until it reaches the set date on the order for Allocate On
The stock will not start shipping from the order until it reaches the set date on the order for Ship On
