Cost Import Adjustment Factor & Price Import Adjustment Factor

Overview

There is a need to import cost and sell from headoffice. But to still be able to change your supplier units and your sell unit. For example where head office regards you as selling a product by the box, but you actually sell it by the each.

The adjustment factors are not intended to be the best possible solution. The best solution is around working with head office to let you vary the units. But the adjustment factors are simple to use and are an improvement on not being able to import cost/sell if you change the unit on the product.

If you put a value in the Price Import Adjustment Field or Cost Import Adjustment field then cost or sell from your head office still updates but the applicable units are no longer updated from headoffice.

As a result, you can change the unit, set the adjustment field and still update cost/sell from head office without having the same unit as the head office.

Positive adjustment factors multiply the cost or sell from headoffice. Negative adjustment factors divide them.

Procedure

This is for products where the data comes from either the price book or a head office product import using Product Import Rules and you wish to sell or buy at a different price

Where the Cost Import Adjustment Factor or Price Import Adjustment Factor is greater than 1 or less than minus 1, then the cost or sell pricing is adjusted accordingly.

You will need to set the product up first for sell pricing you wish to sell at, cost pricing you wish to buy at, the product units need to be set as Each (1)

Example:

Product A is a box of 12 pens.

Your head office deems that you sell as a box however you wish to buy and sell as eaches

SELL PRICING/UNIT

Set your sell price to be a sell price of an each pen price

Set your Sell unit to Each 1

Set the Price Import Adjustment Factor to -12 (tab Settings)

COST PRICING/UNIT

Set your cost price to be as an each cost price

Set all of your buy units to be EACH (1)

Set the Cost Import Adjustment Factor to be -12

The product is set to sell and buy as individual pens

Therefore when the data comes through as a box 1 the system knows to divide the pricing by 12 and will NOT adjust the product units back to box (1)

If the product has a cost import adjustment factor the default order unit, buy ship unit, default buy unit, and MOQ should not change regardless of is Primary ticked. Also the Product Unit will not change.

If the product has a price import adjustment factor the default sell unit. Also the Product Unit will not change.

If you do not want the product unit to change but everything else to stay as per the data you are getting from your head office, make the adjustment factor be -1 which means the unit will stay as you put it, and the pricing will come in as per your head office.
